Hello all I am obsessed with old games, consoles, pins, and vids! When I found out about mame a few months ago I was instantly taken with the urge to build my own machine. I am a 15 year old kid with no job so I have been slowly saving to make the order for parts. I know exactly which buttons and joysticks I want for my order, but I can't find any information on whether or not the buttons and joysticks come with the cables that I need in order to set up the i-Pac2. If they don't, I can order them from the site but I'd prefer not to spend $20 if I don't need to. Thank you ever so much!

You need to supply your own wire and crimp connections for most joysticks and buttons. You don't really use a cable for them. You use around 22 gauge wire with crimp female spade connectors most of the time. You can buy them premade from ultimarc if you don't want to make your own.

Thank you very much for the information!

If you're gonna buy wire and do it yourself I would add that I strongly suggest stranded wire instead of solid. Solid works just fine of course, but stranded has more give to it and is just nicer to work with in my opinion.
Just thought I'd mention it, since you said you were a 15 year old kid and thus might not have realized that there was a difference in wire types...

Hey man, I just wanted to compliment you for taking the initiative to do a project at 15. :applaud: I think you will get a lot out of your build if you stick with it. Just curious, What kind of cabinet you have in mind? Feel free to start a project announcements thread when you dig in.
