As I am working to gather parts for my scratch built cabinet I am debating on which joysticks to go with. I plan on having a dedicated 4-way joystick in the center of the panel, so the 4-8 way dual purpose isn't an issue. Right now I have a couple of Wico 8-way round grommet joysticks that need new grommets that I could use. The leaf switches seem to be ok still. I know these would be great for Robotron, but outside of that will they be that great for other games? I don't play a ton of fighting games, but I do plan on at least having them available for when my friends come over, but I would say they will be used sparingly for fighting games. They will mostly be used for classic games, some non-fighting Neo-Geo type games and possibly games like Virtua Striker and Virtua Tennis if I can ever get them running correctly.
Price is a concern as I would rather not spend $50 per stick. I have looked at the Leaf-Pro from GGG as an option instead of replacing the grommets on my Wico's. It is about the same price for the entire stick as it is for a new grommet for the Wico.
Or would I just be better off getting some Happ Super's? Or even the Smooth Stick from GGG? I love Robotron, but I would hate to pigeon hole my setup for just one game that I am not that good at even ;)
Thanks.

It's a tough question because it's so subjective.
Personally, I'd recommend Happ Competitions as good band-for-your-buck sticks. I'm thinking the only way you'd be let down by them would be if you're used to something else. If you're like me and you went years and years without playing arcade games before building your cabinet (i.e., pretty much a blank slate) then I think you'll be very happy with the Comps.
In any case, I'd strongly recommend them over Supers. I have a Super configured for 4-way, and I like it, but the feel isn't as tight as the Comp.

I have an Omni2 I am using right now with my DK cabinet and like it pretty well as I am getting used to it, but it is the first arcade stick I have used since I was a kid. The price is right on those for sure :)
