Title: What to do with leftover parts...
Post by: Nephasth on September 18, 2012, 10:33:28 pm
I had a couple meters of RGB LED strips leftover from the cabinet lighting on the Beast, so I decided to put some of it to use. I've been wanting floor lights in my Tundra for a few years, and this was the perfect excuse to make some.

Really impressed with how these turned out. They're hard wired for red only right now, but I can make short (about 1" long) harnesses to put between the strip connector and harness connector to light them up one of 7 colors. Had to buy the switch and Add-A-Circuit fuse for a total of about $17 and a couple hours for this little project.

What do you do (non arcade related) with your spare parts?

PBJ suffers from Tundra-envy.   ;D

If you look at the last 7-8 years of Tundras and Tacomas it's amazing to see how much they grew in size.  My Tacoma is the same size as the big Tundra in 2004.  A big Tundra now may as well be an F-250.

Yeah, too bad they're still only 1/2 ton pickups... But this will be pretty neat...

The '08 is substantially larger than it was only a few years earlier.  It got a little smaller again after that.  I routinely look down on other Tacomas while sitting in mine even when they have the same suspension package.

The Tacoma line was updated in 2005. The 2005 and up double cab is about 3-4 inches taller and roughly 20 inches longer than the 2004 and earlier versions.

Tacoma's just a jacked up Camry and I haven't noticed them getting any bigger.

If I never planned on taking my truck off road or hauling anything I'd consider a Tundra.

Tacoma's have gotten too big.  I hate how big my '09 is...  I miss the old indestructible Toyota Trucks.  People want too much money for good condition ones nowadays.

I love my Tacoma.  It does everything I need well.  I can move multiple games with ease, it handles well with the bed completely packed with camping gear, it has no issues with snow.  We can get our huge plastic canoe everywhere we need to go.

Hell I can even get MDF in that thing.

Ha, yeah, I refer to my '03 Tacoma as a car with a really big trunk. But I have to say, it has served me well!

1 bought a 1995 1/5 Tacoma the first year they came out. My dad STILL drives it. Miss that thing.

These LED strips go a long way...

Added some light to my upper glove box. Circuit is switched with a mercury switch.
