Title: My Jukebox Build

Some back i started with this jukebox idea, after some planning and getting some designs done this is what i rendered and what i wanted, a piano black with white tubes but colourfull when switched on.

The idea is to have it look old school, but stylish with some retro to go

And yes somehow i neglected to get enough 3mm to cover the left hand side  :headbanger:

Still a looooooooooong way tho as most of it is just trial fitted sofar, no sanding/finishing done at all...

Got some work done this weekend again, first off an enclosure for the 12" subwoofer

Then took all the test fitted panels off, this being the front and cut all the holes for the speakers and buttons

Did the test fit of everything and completed the "bracket" to hold the screen

Fitted everything together, added the subwoofer box.

Now its ready for some filling and sanding before permanently fixing the 3mm on the sided and the top, then some more sanding

Im gonna run it with DWJukebox at first on a Windows XP machine. No touchscreen, its just a 18.5" LG LED screen.

For the buttons i gutted an old USB keyboard and used the controller, basically it has like 26 rows of pins, shorting different rows gives different characters or keyboard functions.

The buttons im looking to use is

Top Row in Blue: Volume Down, Volume Up, Alphabet Letter Down, Alphabet Letter Up
Middle Row in Green: Cant remember all the functions, i have it mapped on a piece of paper somewhere, but this is like : Most Popular Song, Random Mode, Skip Track and then 3 more i cant remember :-)
Bottom Row is numeric numbers: 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 and a backspace
Centre of the bunch is the yellows, thats basically arrow directions with an enter in the middle.

All these functions have been mapped in the control.ini file from DWjukebox

Yes, thank you.
I'm planning for a similar build with the same software some day. However I plan to hide all the "admin" buttons from the user, since the purpose will be for parties etc where I don't want anyone to fiddle with volume or other settings.

Not alot of progress pics this time. fitted the front and the back to the frame, filled the wholes, did some quick sanding, fitted the top dome and one side (will do the other side tonight). I fitted some locking rotating wheels to move it easier, its quite heavy at the moment :-) still need to do the base aswell then fix the wheels to that.

This weekend i should be able to do some intensive sanding and filling...might even start with primer.

Filling and sanding done, already applied a coat of sealer before i start paint. Handles on the sides done.

Designed and made the base last night, not yet sanded, but all cutting done (jukebox also received a coating of sanding sealer)

So its taken me ages to work on it again, moved houses and found some time for a change.

Still unsure of how to finish it, but i went the way of a vintage turqoise colour that will see the different layers of paint at various places.

First gave it a couple of coats. Then started sanding and scratching around, did a couple of test fits, went about making the top grill, now in the process of making the U shape speaker grill for the bottom centre part.

I missed this the first time around, guess I mostly look in Project Announcements for new builds.

I like your design. I probably would have covered the  sections you painted with laminate, but that can get expensive and to each his own, but I have fallen in love with the laminate, fairly easy to apply and looks better than any of my paint jobs.

I will be watching this project. Id like to see how you do the lighted white front part.

This project makes me want to build a full size juke now. (Dang you!!! LOL)
