Yeah I know I'm not asking for much, but in theory what would be needed to make this frankenstick?
- Top Switching 4/8 stick
- Top lockable rotary
- RGB ball top
- Built-in coffee maker
Just for he hell of it I wonder if this can be done, I'm a huge Ikari warriors fan and would love to be able to play it with existing sticks and not have to dedicate rotaries to just that game.
Yeah yeah I know I can go modular, but this is what we do here, we innovate, we create, we push ourselves to produce things people would not have believed were achievable. Pulling this off would sure help bury a few frankenpanels.
So lend me your brain cells, if we cluster enough together we could power a small toy car with mind bullets :dunno

Auto switching already available (better than top switching hands down). I prefer the OMNI2 as my weapon of choice to automate. Rotary mods are out there as well. Should be easy to combine the two on the current OMNI2's base. Just need to fashion a collar with a set screw to replace the C ring at the bottom. RGB on top... I'm waiting for RandyT to make my year and release a hollow stick. No idea if he will or has one in the makings but he knows it is desired. Those things are somewhat tricky to source tho from my understanding. To combine RGB and rotary I've often though that filling the shaft with clear resin and then running a thick fiber optic cable out the side of the rotary collar before the encoder mount would be a good way to do it. Then you just need to mount the LED array to the same stabilized board that the encoder is on and presto finito you've got an everything stick. Plus with running fiber optic you should be able to still rig a hot swap ball top and have a wireless TRON stick that's internally lit OMFG how cool is that?!
As it is RGB balltop is not something I give a flip about so I'm just going to make rotary 4/8 ways that are hot swappable in my garage. I may even put a battery operated light unit inside a TRON stick and call it a draw.

I have some ideas that I am going to pursue. I have a potential all in one solution for regular rotary and RGB combined that will fit on TOP of any hollow shaft stick, yep the rotary mech is in the handle and has the RGB embedded. Just an experiment at the moment. Looking at the tech and engineering it really isn't complicated at all to create and everything stick. Funny you mentioned the clear shaft, I was thinking something similar but it involved inserting a polished end acrylic rod inside the hollow shaft and then lighting it from the bottom with an RGB cluster, this way there's no issues with wire binding inside the shafts.
I'll keep you up to speed on the rotary top solution, unfortunately it still does depend on hollow shafts, but there's no way you're going to get RGB up there without them.
