Yeah that'll work.
All a bluetooth dongle consists of is a radio reciever and a chip to make it usb. Most of the heavy lifting is done via software, aka the bluetooth stack. The default microsoft stack should be able to handle most headsets.
That being said, you can get a dongle much cheaper. I bought mine off of ebay years ago for two dollars new. If it was an important bit of tech I'd say buy the best one out there, but it's just a step up from a USB cable, so get a cheap one. Just be mindful of the transfer rate, that's the only thing hardware-wise that matters.

I need it for just mp3s. this dollar piece will do? Data rate : up tp 3Mbps. same as the $13 one from newegg.

Yeah it should work just fine.
With mp3s we are talking Kbps so you've got bandwidth to spare.
Now I should mention that there are headsets specifically designed for use as bluetooth headphones on a pc. They are really expensive though so I don't have any and I can't attest to the quality.
Again, any issues you run into are going to be software issues. A standard headset, once paired is going to essentially show up as your sound card (default direct audio device) to windows and any audio will be pumped through it.

It's really not much different than "Standard" headsets. I don't particularly feel the cost of said headset + audio quality is enough to justify the wireless bluetooth aspect of said headset. I'll get the headset/mike for my phone and car because it's necessary, but for music, the money would be better spent towards increasing the quality of the headset rather than any wireless connectivity.
Of course, if you enjoy listening to 128kbps MP3's with a pair of professional grade recording studio headphones you need help.

eh........how the F do to connect my lg hbs700 headset? got one of these really cheap usb dongle but it came with no software or anything at all. I can see the device and it tries to scan my headset but never picks up anything. the led on the dongle is always red too. I dont know if thats normal. I have 2 of these headsets and both work perfect with my phone.
maybe this is a better solution?

You can only connect 1 thing at a time with those so if your phone is still connected, the computer won't connect. I found that out with a bluetooth receiver I bought that I wanted two computers to connect to but only one at a time can.

yeah I figured that and disconnected one of the LG headphones from my phone. the dongle still never ever picks up anything. starting to think its defective or there some other problems.. :hissy:
