Title: NEC PG 2740 - did it die on me? will pay SF bay area monitor pro
Post by: tony.silveira on September 01, 2012, 04:33:12 pm
hey guys,

sweet jesus i hope someone can help me out.  picked up, what to me, is my perfect screen, NEC PG 2740.  tested it out and it worked great.  i decased it, installed into my machine and it was all good.  then, the right side of the screen started getting "wiggly".

i turned it on teh other day, no picture.  i could hear the monitor come on but it was a blank screen.  unplugged everything, reseated everything and it came back on but the screen was shaped like an hour glass.  rebooted again and the monitor is once again black.

looking at it while it's on, everything "seems" to be ok.  the fans are spinning, the little glass bit (sorry, don't know the technical term) on the neck glows.

please, someone help me.  i sold my arcade monitor once i got this screen and now she isn't playing nice.

i am willing to pay someone to come out and take a look at it if that's what it takes.

my next step is to pull it from the machine and test it again but i'm not exactly sure where to start.

please please please help me!

Cap kit.

are cap kits generic enough?  do i need to diagnose the board, find the bad cap?  i'm pretty much monitor-tarded when it comes to fixing them

I only know what I've read. Some components are the same, some aren't. More research.
