Greetings programs!
I'm having some trouble with resolutions using an arcadevga on a win7 64 pc through an hdtv crt. I'm using the recommended settings, but on same games I'm getting a considerable amount of flicker, and others I'm zoomed way in (one battle toad is taking up pretty much the whole screen). Any suggestions? I'm considering going for an LCD monitor so I don't have to mess with this anymore! :banghead:

how are you interfacing to the the hdtv crt? are you using the vga out. I would think that you won't get all the benefits of the arcade vga. and if you're using the s-video out, you definitely wont get the benefits.
I'm not sure what the tv will support but with my arcadevga and a trisync arcade monitor, I used the mame resolution tool to set up ini files for resolution.

Hi, I should've specified I'm using a
vga to component crescendo systems transcoder. Some games look great, will I have to use an ini file to specify resolutions for the games that aren't working "out of the box"? Thanks

you can download the mame resolution tool from here http://mamewah.mameworld.info/downloads.htm (http://mamewah.mameworld.info/downloads.htm)
I'm not sure if or how the component adaptor will limit you but give it a shot. mess around with it and see how it goes.
You will have to use ini files for the games (they will store in a folder named ini in the mame folder) This res tool will make them for you. what you have now is mame is auto setting the resolutions for each game. very hit or miss, mostly miss

Ok, I will give that a try. Thanks for the input mgb!

it also sounds like you need to read the ultimarc AVGA install page; lots of your questions are answered and explained here: http://www.ultimarc.com/avgainst.html (http://www.ultimarc.com/avgainst.html)

To my embarrassment, you are correct. I'm such a rookie.
