Title: Full screen in Mame
Post by: fullerlee on May 07, 2002, 12:09:45 pm
Hi,

I've tried the 3 Main windows/dos versions of mame (dmame.exe, mame.exe and mame32.exe) and the only one I can get to consistently display games in full screen is dmame.

Now as I'm running in windows, seems like it would make more sense to run mame.exe or mame32.exe, but StreetFighter 2 for example shows up really small in the centre of the screen. Is there any way to fix this?

Thanks,

Lee

For mame.exe, have you got hardware stretching turned on? i.e. hwstretch set to 1 in mame.ini

Tetsu96 has discovered a wonderful trick for MAME32ers with Nvidia cards. When you run the Nvidia driver installer it unpacks a self extracting archive of files into your temp directory, including nv4_disp.inf which defines all the available screen modes.

All you have to do is edit this ASCII .inf file, adding the custom resolutions you require (e.g. 384x224 for SFII), then rerun the installation program. When the installation program completes you will then have this extra mode available and any games which request this mode will run full screen! No hw stretching is required, no mess,no fuss.  ;)
I've covered this rather quickly but let me know if you require further info.

Chris.
