Title: How to convert Dreamcast backups to .cdi?
Post by: Turnarcades on August 24, 2012, 08:51:55 pm
Now I've finally got Dreamcast running successfully on my setup through NullDC, I'm looking to add my existing Dreamcast game collection to it to play on my own cab. I like the idea of converting them to .cdi format as this negates the need for virtual drive mounting. I've found advice on original game ripping but I also have a number of backups on disc too. Can anyone advise me how to rip these properly and convert them to cdi? I've tried ripping using UltraISO then converting with DiscJuggler but for some reason they always identify as audio CD's so do not boot correctly. Is there a specific way I should be doing it?

There are but it's about trying to create reliable rips. Dreamcast emulators are picky and some downloaded did not work; now I'm on limited bandwidth it's harder to get that size too and some of my games aren't out there. If I can rip mine which I know all work, it'd be very handy.

You have to stream the files from the Dreamcast via the Broadband Connector as the discs are in GD-Format.

If you have the complete set already done for you,  ;D  you can then burn them with DiscJuggler.  You can make them autoboot by adding a file - look around for it.

I would use Ritek CDR discs and burn them at 4x.   Use any other discs like TDK and you will be in fail-land.

I just stick them all on a HDD and get NullDC to load them in.

Oh and before you ask nope and nope.   :lol
