Title: Looking for PS1 And Dreamcast games for MAME Cabinet - Have 6 Buttons
Post by: emb on August 21, 2012, 10:31:29 pm
My control panel has 6 main buttons (plus my 1 player and 1 coin) to accommodate most MAME games that I play. I would like to add a few PS1 and Dreamcast games; unfortunately the PlayStation (PS1) has 8 main buttons.

So my question is, "Are there any good PlayStation or Dreamcast games out there that only utilize 6 buttons or less?" If so, what games do you recommend I consider throwing into my cab?

Edit: And yes, I did see the sticky thread above ;)

All DC games use 6 buttons or less...

And the ones that use a digital stick as opposed to an analog one have arcade ports the run on other emulators, so no.... not many DC games out their that are suitable.

Use Makron and Demul and get the arcade games for those emulators.  It'll be slim pickings for dc games after that.

Same goes for the psx.... most of your good digital games are stuff like cps2 era fighters, ect.... they are all emulated in mame.  Lots of unemulated lightgun games on the psx though.

And of course games designed for the home console generally play terribly on a mame cab.  You are meant to have longer gameplay sessions, the control layout is designed for a gamepad, often making it hard to pull off some moves, ect.

Once I get sick of playing bass fishing on the DC in my cab, I'll get to working on getting the arcade controls wired in.  This is the list I'm going to start with:

Well, there is the Raiden Project for PS1, since Raiden II is not working in MAME yet...

Oh correct correct Howard.

The problem about disagreeing is it doesn't necessarily make your point of view valid.  ;)

That's a good list to start with, but pay attention when you are setting things up... at least a few of those are already in mame.  Some even have pc ports I believe.
