Title: Monitor unkown problem - Pentranic 19"

I think there's a name for this issue but I can't remember what it is. And can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this? I just changed to 100uF 160V for new one. The one that looks hot on the picture, C313. It still does the same thing. The old one was 80uF but the new one is only 97uF. Its supposed to be 100uF so do you think its still the capacitor?

wow, that's a new one to me.


Just changing that cap wouldn't do something like that. Most of those caps just help filter and smooth out the power going to certain systems.


the only time changing a caps value really matters is for timing circuits.
They can affect the timing pretty bad.




this looks like perhaps a video amp issue (lm1203n i believe) it's on the neck card. I can't think of anything on the deflection board that could cause a white band to scroll on the screen like that.


perhaps "rickn" could help you out better.

Actually, I was able to realize that it's the power supply. Because when I swped it with another Gorf game, the bars were gone! So now it's just a matter to try to fix that power supply.

Can I just replace it a more modern one?

I think Bob Roberts sells a rebuild kit for linear power supplies.

you could probably change it for a more modern switch mode supply with a little hacking:

this is the supply and a header you just splice into the power and plug in the harness and it's good to go.

Did you ever get a power supply?  I'm dealing with power supply issues now. Wondered if you had success with using an old or new power supply.
