Hi everyone! I've been itching to make a small vertical cab and have some notebooks that I want to use. When I turn the notebook on the side, the screen colors look a little weird, especially the blacks and dark colors. I can still see them but it just feels weird. When I rotate the notebook back it's fine. Is this the norm with notebooks? If I wanted to make a vertical cab, do I need to just break down and buy a LCD screen?
Thanks.

What your seeing is the effect on cheaper LCD screens.
Don't quote me on this, but I believe the "color shift" effect is more evident on TN panels.
IPS panels are typically more expensive, but don't suffer from that effect.
Further, some panels can be rotated to better effect that others, though typically IPS panels will look much better rotated than TN panels.
Do some searching around these boards for LCD, etc, and you'll turn up lots of recommendations.

Adjusting the angle might help.
Poor viewing angles come into play with any cheap lcd screen.
When my lcd is vertical, player 2's view is so washed out that it's near unplayable.
The view from the sides is improving, as it's become a selling point, but they still aren't made to be viewable from the bottom.
(which will be the side, if it's rotated ;) )
