I finally got around to mounting an LCD monitor into my Galaga (60-1) convert cabinet. I really wasnt sure the best way to go about this so I tried several different methods. At first, I tried to retain the original brackets but trying to work with metal was becoming to much of a pain so I removed all of the original mounting hardware.
I ended up using 1x2 wood to mount the monitor. I ran two pieces across the cabinet and attached the monitor with wood screws. I then used paint sticks to shim and raise the monitor about a 1/4". I secured the wood with zip ties to the metal rails that are part of the cabinet chassis at both the top and bottom of the cabinet. Although this is about as redneck as it gets, it is solid. The monitor does not move when tugged on.

Next I used velcro to attach the tinted plexi-glass from the original Galaga monitor.

I dont have any pics of it operational yet. I now get to learn how to wire up a jamma harness and power supply this evening. This is my first stab at this, so dont laugh too much.

Thanks for the compliments. I only have two cabinets. This Galaga that will be a 60-1 vertical cabinet and the Soul Calibur that will be a PCXS2 (PS2 emulator) and Dreamcast emulator based horizontal cabinet. The LCD for that one just came in so when I finish the Galaga, I have to start working on that install.
The stadium cabinet project was scrapped. Total waste of time and money on that one.
Got the cabinet wired up and everything is working. I dont know why there is so much hate for the LCD converts. Maybe it is because I have the tinted plexi-glass over the monitor, but the picture looks fabulous. There is so much more room with the monitor and all those power supply capacitors gone now.
