Thought he died since this is the Obituary forum.

EDIT: Need the video posted
Party All The Time - Eddie Murphy (HQ Audio) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDbpzjbXUZI#)

I remember seeing an interview with him where he said that nobody would take his music seriously and they were waiting for him to fart the entire time he was singing.

Pretty sure it would have sounded better if he had farted.

I don't think Murphy took his music seriously.

Transvestite or transexual? One's more interesting than the other.

I don't think Murphy took his music seriously.

And with a rebuttal to that, here's his other "hit single" from the same album as Party All The Time  :P  ;D

-Grimace-  After Beverly Hills Cop, he just couldn't look serious.

Hmh-hmh-hmh-hmh-hmh. Only by proxy. Seriously, though: one is just wishing about it; the other is doing it.

Jack Black doesn't take is music seriously either, and yet The D is awesome and Murphy's stuff comes off as almost intentionally lame, even for the time period.

Talent:    You have it or you don't.

It's a shame... he can sing, he just can't write lyrics, or arrange music, or dress himself.

Also I think in the age of music videos maybe it wasn't such a great idea to have a boring, minute lead-in to every video before you even hear music.  When you are about to add a minute lead-in, you must ask yourself "Am I Michael Jackson?" ... if so then go ahead, if not then don't do it!  ;)

The worst part?  This isn't completely horrible!   :laugh2:

Isn't completely horrible?  It's one of the few rap songs that isn't so stupid that I can listen to the whole thing.  IMHO that made the Mach one of the best rappers ever!

But then again, he made me buy the oil-soaked hunk of red plastic known as a slim jim on multiple occasions, so he could sell me anything.

It's a fairly blatant ripoff of an old Ice Cube song but hey it's way better than I expected.

I thought this post would be about how horrible all of hs later movies are.

Yeah true that.

I think the problem started when he did "The Nutty Professor".  That movie was downright terrible, it completely revolved around the gimmick of him playing a buch of people via prosthetics.  Now he got away with such a stunt in Coming to America, because the makeup and acting was very subtle and he wasn't in costume for the main character he played.  Nutty professor is like if he did CTA and he was the carzy barber through 90% of the film.  The problem is that movie didn't tank, as it should, but rather it was a huge hit.  Then even made a more terrible sequel to it!  So from that point on, Murphy relied on gimmicks and effects in his films rather than his comedy and acting.  The ultimate result is the abortion that is Norbert.

Also it inspired other, less talented, comedians to do the same thing, and we got such "gems" as Big Momma, White Chicks, and whatever current garbage Tyler Perry is churning out these days.

So thank you Eddie Murphy, thank you for ruining the big budget comedy genre.  But hey, you are pretty funny as that Donkey in the Shrek movies, so all is forgiven.

but enough about that:

I love me a bit of Tenacious D  :notworthy:

Well if you thought that Eddie Murphy was bad, try William shatners "Iron man"

William Shatner, Iron Man (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM3J5B2rVBc#)

Although I think his worst crime has to be this one,  which when I hear it always makes me think of Lee evans.

That's a good funny song. Jack Black has a great voice.

Shatner actually has a great voice. He just got off on the Priceline gig.
