Title: PS2/USB Adaptors
Post by: Aceldamor on October 07, 2003, 06:12:58 pm
Since no-one will pony up any info on where they got thier stockpile of non-optical mice, ;D I have to try other methods....

Does anybody use or know if the PS2/USB adaptors work well enough to pick some up?

Any assistance would be appreciated,

Thanks

my favorite is the EMS USB2 available at www.levelsix.com.  It's $15 for a two-player adapter that supports DDR configuration (ie it outputs the direction pad as both axes and buttons)  and www.levelsix.com is in the US so shipping isn't bad.  Good quality, no lag.

Many people wire to I-Pacs instead, as that's easier than soldering onto the circuit board of a PS controller.  But that excludes PS games. Being into DDR and beatmania and the like, I'm a fan of PS controller hacking.

Dude, don't do it! JK :P
Actually I used a Micro Innovations USB to PS2 Mouse & Keyboard Adapter on my 1st mouse hack.
It worked flawlessly with the mouse however the keybaord response sucked (shouldn't be an issue if you are not gonna use that option).
But before you do that might I suggest trying a search for a   Kensington ValuMouse Three button USB.
These work great for Trackball & spinner hacks.
The PCB is very easy to work with & has a small footprint.
Good luck!Z

Will the Play Station to USB Dual Convertor they have at LevelSix on the following link below be recongnized by Mame32? As in both PS2 controllers which are connected to the converter unit be recongized by Mame32?

http://www.levelsix.com/products/pc/PS-USB_DualConvertor.shtml

Cuz I am in the process of creating my 2 player Arcade rig and have it used by both on my PS2 and on my computer for mame games. I originally wanted to connect a PS digital pad and a Sidewinder using the barrier strip method, but didn't know if that'll work, or to use PlayStation to USB converter, but didn't know whether I should get 2x single converters using 2 USB ports or to get the Dual version which can take 2 PlayStation pads at once on 2 USB port. I got USB ports to spare I have tons opened.

Also I'd take it that the warning they have about only the SONY brand controllers will work as a precaution but other makes such as madcatz should be perfectly fine right? ie. I should be able to plug my madcatz digital PS pad into this without any problems, correct?
