Post by: Cooper on October 07, 2003, 05:46:42 pm
Anybody know of any video poker/video slot programs or emulators that would run in a mame cabinet?  Thanks for any insight!

We've been talking about some possibilities here:

I found this site... http://www.fruit-emu.com/ ....seems pretty helpful with MFME.  Has anybody used this and know if the buttons are remappable?  I'd hate to have to remap all my mame controls around this.  ;)

I just got my IGT poker keys from Happ.  5 Hold/Cancel, deal/draw, etc.   They are cool.

Anyone know how I can control the lights in those WITHOUT being able to modify the software.  Tall order, I know.  But I was thinking, if the Deal button  is pressed, turn off the hold/cancel lights, toggle the hold'cancel lights with each press, That's about it.

Anyone tried to tun the $20 "IGT Slots" program on cab? I can't find a demo version and I'm not willing to spend $20 without being sure it'll fit my needs.

I think the real problem with slot / video poker games is, well .......they suck.

The thing is once you take away the fact that you could win money, they aren't as fun as you would think.  Now many commerical pc software makers have gotten around that by offering a different sort of "reward" (read strip poker) so if you are into that sort of thing then maybe you should look at adult software sites.  Otherwise, the games are pretty dull once you take the money aspect away from them.

Agreed, not much fun playing without the money.

Alot of the bars in NYC (and other places, I'm sure), have gambling machines that keep track of credits.  They all say, "for entertainment purposes only".

BUT, if the bartender knows you are not a police officer, he will pay you for your remaining credits, and clear the machine.

I might do something like that  ;D

Especially if I use the DOS version of Video poker that was posted.  It really takes your "credits" quick, then shows you a humiliating graph of how you sucked to the the end.

around here every arcade back in the 80's when I frequented arcades had them and in most cases a lot more then video games...and therefare are a part of the arcade experience...and they were gambling machines in that you could win or loose money...

I personally think that fruit machine emulation is GREAT for all those addicted to gambling.

They soon figure out that the house always wins.... can flip switchs to see how fast you will loose your money...  And that they are boring!

All without spending a dime.

Also, anyone who pays out for extra 'credits' is on my ---steaming pile of meadow muffin--- list..  Sorry, but I don't believe charging people coins for a mame machine (unless theres a jar right above it)..  So I REALLY don't like people trying to make their own slot machines for cash...

If this is how you want to make money... Go out and get a real job and stop trying to leech off the hopes / miseries of others!

If this was directed at me, consider the smiley after my comment.  Also, if I made your list, I feel honored.  That together with a subway token might get me on the train someday.

BTW, I play video poker when I go to Atlantic City or Las Vegas, and I am never miserable after I play.  If you are perhaps you have a problem.  Check out this site:
