My currently emulation setup is currently missing the great Marvel Vs Capcom 2. The horror I know since this game is so epic. Mame emulation is currently a no-go of course so I've been looking at other options and am having a difficult time deciding which way I should go. Should I be using the Dreamcast rom along with Makaron? NullDC? Chankast? Or should I use the PS2 version of the rom with PCSX2? Or something else entirely?
What have your experiences been with this? Which emulator runs the game the fastest and has no or few errors? It doesn't matter if it's the PS2, Dreamcast, or Arcade version of the game - so long as it runs well.

I currently have 2 ways to play MVC2.
First on Xbox with Coinops 4 as the emulator.
I also have a separate DC cabinet setup just for Soul Calibur and MVC2.
Technically, neither of these are emulators since they run on actual hardware.
...but by using a cabinet, I am "emulating" the arcade versions and both run perfectly.
I guess this won't help you on a PC tho.
I doubt PS2 emulation would run as well, but have never tried it.

I'm running the arcade rom with Makaron and it works great.
There was an issue with an earlier version of Makaron where you had to jump through some hoops to get it to work, but the tutorials should still be out there.
Finding the correct rom could also prove to be difficult. Pretty sure that I'm using the mame zip from that time period and not a .dat
I'll see which one it was and whether I was using Makaron v12/5 or 12/7 when I get home from work.
I planned to ditch Makaron and just use Demul for everything on my latest build, but ended up going back to Makaron for MVSC2 and the shmups because they performed better on Makaron. I had some horrible screen tearing on the shmups, but was able to correct it by forcing vsync in my video card software.

Thanks a lot. I'd really appreciate it. Knowing which rom version and Emulator version would be a huge help. These things can be so finicky.

Using Makaron v12/5 on my cab.
You can find it in this post: http://dknute.livejournal.com/34884.html (http://dknute.livejournal.com/34884.html)
The rom I'm using is a zip file from the MAME romset from around that time. (earlier Makaron builds required .dat files)
If you need to roll back the rom, look at the date of dknute's post and the dates on prior MAME releases to get the correct version.
Probably easier to find it online as part of a Makaron collection though. You'll also need the bios files.
Here is v12/7 if you want to try it. (IIRC, it's not as stable) You may need some files from v12/5.
These are true WIPs that he was nice enough to share, not really polished public releases.
You get whatever state it was in when he was working on it. ;D

Here is some info on mapping the controls:

Awesome - I've managed to get it working. Now my only problem is unlocking those other characters. Can Makaron save the game state/remember that the characters are unlocked?

Nevermind - I just unlocked them all and exited the game.... it remembered! Rock on. :)
