I bought a Donkey Kong that was supposedly in great excellent condition for $600, once I get home I have this problem with the monitor.
This problem occurs about 75% of the time upon turning it on. Other times I turn it on it will work fine and will continue to work fine until I turn it off and turn it back on again. Like I said whatever state it turns on as (either working, or not working) it stays consistent until I shut off the machine.
Anyone have any idea what it can be?
Sorry for the camera being sideways.

The horizontal hold control on the monitor's main board is just a tad out of adjustment.
Adjust VR451 as shown on page 9 of this manual to straighten out your picture:

Camera is sideways so I think you may be thinking the picture looks different than it really does. And like I said it works fine the other half of the time. Sometimes when I hit the side of the machine really hard it will fix the picture for some odd reason.
Are you sure it's that? Like I said, I don't have to adjust it when it does work.
Maybe the VERTICAL hold is off.. What do you think, did you know it was sideways?

It is the horizontal hold that is in need of adjustment.

Thank you, it's still having the same problems. But I am no expert at adjusting it. Are you sure it's not something else?

It's also possible that your monitor has not been recapped and has some failing electrolytic capacitors which are no longer up to snuff. This can prevent the circuitry from stabilizing and locking onto the horizontal hold.

How much is that to repair? Any idea? You know, by a professional.
