Hi,

In case anyone else is needing to supply speaker level output in their cab, I tested out an amp today that I got from www.canakit.com.  It is the UK193 at:

It cost $23 including shipping.

I hooked it up to my SBLive line out (left channel only for now), hooked it up to the 12V from the PC power supply, and connected it to a 8 ohm bookshelf speaker.  It has plenty of volume and sounds great.  It comes with a volume control already attached.  Its specs say it can draw up to 2A (which seemed like a lot to me), but my fluke meter says it is really only pulling 100ma with bursts up to 200ma or so.  Perhaps certain sounds and larger volume would take more current...

I plan on merging the left and right audio channels by using a couple resistors as in this example:

You can also build a simple mono amp from a LM386, some caps and a couple of resistors.

Hi,

Wasn't it cheaper, to get some collumns with amplifier and throw away all the outside ?

I did it .... it has costed ........................................   9 $ .... and I got an extra:
- headphones plug .... for not disturbing anybody else ...
- power led
- power button

Just a thouth ...
