Title: Need help with mame and joystick
Post by: pathfndr on August 05, 2012, 05:47:51 pm
OK i'm running newest mame and mame32. Using 8 way leaf wicos, tried 8 way switch wicos hooked up to ipac2 newest version. Using windows vista this probably is the problem. When playing a game the movement stops when moving and holding the joystick in a direction. Happens in all games. Happens in all directions.  It will go about half way across the screen then stops needs to be pushed again to continue to move and will go a little then stop again and continue. I think this happen like 10 years ago but don't remember the way to fix it. Really weird any info would be appreciated.
Thanks

Let's start by taking games out of the picture.

1. Launch the WinIPAC (http://www.ultimarc.com/download.html) application.

2. In panel view, any pressed control icon should light up.

When you press the joystick in a particular direction and hold it, does the associated icon on panel view stay constantly lit or does it shut off like you described?

What about P1 Button 5? (z) If you open a notepad/wordpad window and hold down the button, does it do an unending string of z's or does it do the same thing that you described for the directions?
