Title: I'm Probably Done with Paypal
Post by: SithMaster on August 04, 2012, 03:22:01 am
I sign in after a couple months of inactivity and find I can't add funds from a bank account unless I provide the last four digits of my SSN, proof of SSN, photo ID, and proof of address.  I can't trust them with that information especially since it will be digital copies of documents that they can lose, sell, or abuse at anytime.  What have other users done in regards to providing them the info?  Am I just too paranoid?

Maybe it was the gap. I've been somewhat regular lately so haven't gone through anything like that.

Probably, depends if you have been burnt.

I just treat PayPal like a deposit Visa card, enough for normal purchases but not expensive ones.

I changed my name four years ago.
To correct this in my paypal account they first demanded the official papers of the name change, but when they got them they said I could not change the name in my account because I changed everything but my first name. (middle and last-name was changed).
Only solution to the problem would be to deactivate/delete my account and open a new one with my new name.

I don't want to do this as I would loose all my old transactions and other historical information.
The downside is that my creditcard name does not match, but have not got into a problem with that yet. And I can not add a bank account since my name does not match.

ps: I'm Norwegian.

I'm on it here and there as well.  I haven't had to do any of that stuff either.  If they start demanding it, that's when I'll seriously reconsider usage.  Did you have any money in the account?  That may have factored into it as well.
