Title: happs ms. pac cocktail bezel vs. two-bits?
Post by: Ghoul on October 06, 2003, 11:58:22 pm
Well I think it will save me some money to order through happs for a ms. pac cocktail bezel, but just one question: does anyone know if the quality on these is the same? They are both licensed graphics but I don't know if there's any difference. I would rather split my order up than get a lower caliber item.

Heck, they are likely the same exact item.

Just hope that Namco themselves didn't make it. The quality on the artwork on the reunion machine is terrible. Looks like an inkjet print, especially the marquee.

That was my first guess but I'd like to see if anyone knows for sure before I drop 65 bucks on it. Namco doesn't make the art any more as far as I know, they just sell the license to make it (so it's "official").

Namco NEVER made the art. Ms. Pac-Man wasn't even a Namco game. They may own the RIGHTS to the game, but as far as I know there has never been a single Namco Ms. Pac-Man machine produced.

Namco made Pac-Man and then licensed it to Midway. Someone else made a conversion kit demo called Crazy Otto and sold that idea to Midway. Midway changed it into Ms. Pac-Man and shipped 115,000 upright units.

Then Namco sued the game off of them because it used the characters of Pac-Man and the ghosts without permission.

I purchased sideart and a bezel from Two-bits and the quality was great.  Exactly like the originals.
