Title: Help Setting Arcade Monitor with CRT Emudriver
Post by: tiobolinha on July 26, 2012, 10:02:26 pm
Hi people.

I'm a complete newbie in using arcade monitors. I have an used 15 kHz 29" monitor (I don't know the model but I'm pretty sure it's NOT multisync so it will only support 15 kHz).

I don't have a clue on how to use display windows XP with this 15 kHz monitor before it starts MAME. I'm afraid that the windows high res could damage the monitor.

Is there anyway on displaying windows XP with a 15kHz friendly signal? How do I set things up in GroovyMame to display the 15kHz signal? I'm using the Calamity CRT Drivers with an ATI X1550 video card but I can't get windows to go bellow 640x480 and 30 Hz.

Help please!!!

Marcelo.

When you install Calamity's driver and tell it you are using a 15khz monitor (I think you select 'CGA' as the monitor type), it will replace the 640x480 VGA with an interlaced version.  So you just set the desktop at 640x480 and it will display fine (you don't need to go lower than that).  Groovymame should automatically select the correct resolution for each game based on your monitor type setting.
