Title: Eliminating screen tearing on monitor/other issues
Post by: TJCOMBO on July 24, 2012, 12:28:45 pm
I have a new ArcadeVGA and a tri-sync monitor.  I set up everything according to installation, but I am having some screen tearing and resolution issues with MAME.  I am sure there is an easy fix?  I have read about triplebuffer and vsync for an non-arcade monitor.  Well, what is the optimal solution for an arcade monitor?  I used AVGARes for the resolutions, but it's not working correctly either - I am getting illegal x,y inputs and some of the games are not in the correct resolution, ie. MK is much too narrow.  Do I ever have to fiddle around with the inputs (vsize, hsize, etc) that are attached to the monitor for some games or can I just leave it alone?

Suggestions?

Read new, AND OLD, MAME help files.  Search for 'tearing'. It's a CRT phenomenon.
