A lot of the same questions keep getting posted here again and again and they're hard to find by searching alone.
I think it might be useful to create a "setting up GroovyMAME" flowchart. If not a flowchart, maybe a wiki that has pages for various popular combinations of video cards and monitors though the number of combinations might be prohibitive. That's why I suggested a flowchart format.
Are there any open-source flowcharting programs on the market like MS Visio?
Some of the setup variables:
Video cards: ATI pre-2xxx, ATI 2xxx to 4xxx, ArcadeVGA 3000, other
Drivers: CRT_EmuDriver, stock + soft15KHz, stock drivers
Monitors: low res 15KHz, dual res 15K/25KHz, tri-sync 15/25/31KHz, VGA, PC monitor, TV, LCD
Even within monitor classes, there's variations that require custom modeline setups per monitor model.
Also, we really need a donation link for Calamity. He's the hardest working man in show business and he needs to get paid for his time. :)

Hi krick,
You are absolutely right, there's an urgent need for a wiki. Hopefully we can start with that within some weeks. I'd just like to achieve a somewhat 'final' release of the Switchres patch before writting stuff, so it doesn't need to be rewritten substantially.
Not what you asked, but here is a diagram I made that was lost in the forum's depths, and may help clarifying how this works.
I'm interested too in some free software for flowcharting.

Try dia, projects.gnome.org/dia/ (http://projects.gnome.org/dia/). Has always done the trick for me.
