Sorry to bring up an old topic, but I'm trying to get my Happs P360's to work well with qbert. I have changed the qbert.ini file several times and it does not appear to make any difference. I am currently using
joystick_map 444555888.444555888.444555888.555555555.555555555.555555555.222555666.222555666.222555666.
Even if I make it all 5's, it still acts the same way. Any idea why I can't get this mapping to work?

probably not what you're looking for but,
I attach LEAF Switches to my P360 installed 45deg for Q-Bert/Congo Bongo etc...Games. It works great.
It's like having that other joystick installed in my panel but piggyback with my p360.
It's wired separately from the p360.
Here is a pic.

forgot to mention that I had to change the joystick with longer shaft.

That looks like a great idea.
I'm guessing you just changed the 4 directional keys for qbert and congo bongo to some other keys, so that hitting these during other "8-way" games does not create a problem???
Also, where did you get the longer shafts?
Thanks,

You have to test/change the settings in MAME after each map change, yo, to make sure the axis are right for each direction.

U-hnhh. Just buy a Sanwa stick.

So, with all of this I may just get the Ultimarc U360's. And, I believe the mapping software will allow me to set these to do the diagonals for qbert and congo bongo. And, as I've read, I get the advantage of analog control too. I'm assuming I can hook these up to my keywiz?

The Ultrastik 360 can be connected to an interface but there is usually no need to as it plugs directly into USB.
