First off, this had nothing to do with me. Somebody else decided to add the mame-style output system to a SVN build of Supermodel.

I tried it out and it works great! You have to set "-outputs=win" as a flag in the command line, but it works just great. Keep in mind that supermodel supports force-feedback natively, so outputs are just for lamps primarily.
It's a shame that I'm so busy with non-emulation pursuits atm or I would hurry up and release a new build of mamehooker to celebrate. Anyway try it out if you use mamehooker or a similar product and have fun.

Makes me want to get back to updating the driving cab, but too many projects in the queue.
