Title: NO PC LED controllers?
Post by: gatordad on July 13, 2012, 08:49:03 pm
Are there any LED controllers that do not require a PC available, or am I stuck with just direct power from a 5v source?
I only need 9 buttons lit but would like to have an attract mode etc.

PACLED64 can run an animation without being connected to a computer (usb). If it's powered it will run the programmed animation (default or one you load on it).

http://www.pcboard.ca/ (http://www.pcboard.ca/) LED rainbow (http://www.pcboard.ca/kits/led_rainbow/ (http://www.pcboard.ca/kits/led_rainbow/)) is a pretty good unit. We have used a few dozen of them. Cheap and easy to put together....and programmable too.

Thanks
When I say NO PC I meant no usb plug power so power would come from a direct 5v source.

Take any one of em that's powered off of usb and solder two wires on there and connect it to any 5 volt source you want.  Or program an arduino as suggested...  it already allowa you to power it from either the usb or a power jack

LED rainbow runs off 12 volts. throw it on a wall wart and done.
