can you use all version of mame with mala..?
or which versions are best to use..?

Yes, but the most current is the most supported.  1.74 is the current non beta full release I think.

Mala can launch anything but was designed with MAME in mind.

As far as I know and have experienced, Mala will run any version of MAME. MAME is the primary emulator for Mala.

I'm currently running the newest BETA version of Mala with MAME v.145. Works great!

i,ll try that then,think the version of mame i,am using is 0.122
problem i,am getting is some games am freezing but not sure if its the pc..?
cause its slow but i can exit mala so i thinking is it mame

Yeah. Probably MAME. Either your PC is too slow for the Rom/game loaded or you have a mismatch of Rom & MAME version. Likely NOT Mala. Mala just runs the emulator. It doesn't change anything with the emulator.

how do you know if its a match/mismatch with (rom/mame)...?

Run Mame from the command prompt (more on this here: http://mamedev.org/devwiki/index.php/FAQ:Running (http://mamedev.org/devwiki/index.php/FAQ:Running))

if it fails, it will tell you if your missing sets in your Roms etc.
