Title: What monitor to choose.....
Post by: CoryBee on July 06, 2012, 08:04:47 pm
Have been planning and gathering materials for a build and can't decide between these two monitors I have on hand. They were both broken when I got them and repaired the 19" right away with some spare capacitors. The bigger tv\monitor I got for free and haven't repaired it yet, probably cost me $40 to replace the defective board. My gut tells me to use the bigger one, cause bigger is better but what do you fellas think?

Bigger is better!!! But it depends on how big your cab will be. 19" seems really small to me unless its a slim narrow cab then it may look alright.

Yea I thought 19" might be a bit small for a cab. It will be a smaller cab, not a monster at all. Am still figuring out the dimensions. Around 66" tall and front to back it is 2'. Thanks.

66" tall is a wee bit short, that puts eye level over the top of the cabinet for a man of average height. Most machines are closer to 72" tall.

I thought it might be a bit short, but the cardboard mock up seems to work at my height of 5'10-ish. This is to be a short cab from the start in my head, I have no interest in a large cab......i might make it a bit taller if the complete mockup doesn't work for me. The roller\wheels should make it a little bit taller as well.

Remember that height is basically free in terms of space in your home, width and depth are what cost you. Cabaret styles seem to do well at about that height, but they normally don't have a marquee up top.

True true.

The marquee I would angle. I want this to be perfect, i will add an extra few inches onto this with cardboard and see how I enjoy it. Thanks for the tips.

I have been thinking, and I really want to keep this thing smaller than a full sized cab, but taller than a lowboy. I didn't want it to be very wide, so using the 32" I have or for that matter a 26" widescreen I also have on hand might be out of the question for what I was trying to accomplish for my first stand up cab. I would like something bigger than this 19", so we will see what I can come up with.
