Hello!

I am in the process of planning and gathering whatever is needed to build my first cab. I have some power tools but I do not have a router.
I would like your opinion on this particular Bosch model as I can get it for a very decent price:

Judging from the specs, it does not have micro adjustment and it also does not accept 1/2" shank router bits (only 1/4"). Is this router capable to complete the common arcade cabinet routing tasks:
1. making the cab sides identical with flush trim bit
2. routing a slot for t-molding
3. routing the CP for use with Sanwa or Seimitsu screw-in buttons (the have a shallow mounting depth, take a look here to see what I mean http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=101312.msg1071556#msg1071556 (http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=101312.msg1071556#msg1071556) )

I plan to use 3/4" birch plywood if it also matters.

This exact same router is in my to-buy list as well, so I'd be more than glad to get an answer to these question! Thanks for asking this ;)

Hi,

The router should be just fine.

I build my cabinet using it's bigger brother the POF 1400 ACE, and the basic functionality is pretty much the same (see the attached comparison).

I specifically went for the POF 1400 because of the routing depth fine adjustment. I found this feature particularly handy when cutting the slot for the T-molding.

I think will go with 1200 as I can get it for almost half the price of 1400. I just hope that the lack of micro adjustment will not be a huge inconvenience.

I found the 1400 from amazon.co.uk for the same price as 1200 at the local store. Just wanted to let you know, in case you hand't checked amazon yet :)
