ok here is a long shot i am looking to take an old laptop (spec to follow) i have had siting under a desk for a long time and turn it in a a bartop to run SNES, SEGA, MAME, GB and so on it but i am looking for a front end that will run on it. I tryed hyper spin and.... well its not going to happen so I need a front end that will run well on a old system when its done I dont want to see windows at all hopeing my kids and even my mom could use this so somthing easy to use would be helpfull
laptop specs
HP DV 1000
1.8ghz M Processor
512mb ram (512x1)
WinXP home (just did clean install)
80gb 5400rpm HD
CDRW/DVD-ROM combo drive

MALA will work fine on that system. Just don't run videos and effects and stuff. A simple layout with screen shots will suffice.

I built a system for my 6yo nephew using an old 600mhz? pentium III and MAME v.80.
MALA ran fine on that, so you have plenty of headroom. ;D
Only prev game, next game, select & exit were mapped so he couldn't mess anything up.
The only way he's found to screw it up is holding the power button too long or pressing it repeatedly.

You should also consider Mamewah. It runs great on older hardware.
