Title: Does glow wire wear out?
Post by: soslo on October 03, 2003, 01:41:36 pm
It sounds like the wire only works for a few hours according to:

In general the wire will be good for ~2000 hours of use.  It dims over time.

www.coolight.com (http://www.coolight.com) has better prices, by the way.

Can someone help with the inverter/sequencer part of the glow wire? I don't really know which to use. I'd like to tap into the 12v dc from the motherboard to power the wires for the two tron handles...

you will need a voltage inverter

its basically a small transformer you tie into the 12v leads on pc power supply

and as far as wearing out and dimming ive used some glow wire in modified pc cases i build for over 2 years without loss of color or brightness

Just for the record glow wire is usually rated for 200,000 hours, not 2000.  Your mileage may vary though.
