Ok, so I'm playing some vertical games on my WG25K7191 monitor and while some look great, like Galaga, Pac Man, Donkey Kong, others like Donpachi, E.S.P.Rade, 1945III don't. Games like Donpachi run at a higher resolution than those older Namco games and no matter what resolution I run them at, the top and bottom are chopped off. I've tried 352x288, 384x288, 512x288, 352x264, etc. and nothing works. The only way to get these games to fit on my monitor is to check the stretch to fit option in Mame32, which makes the game display in a square shape rather than the usual vertical rectangle shape and makes things look less than sharp. I'm using an ArcadeVGA card. Any suggestions?

turn your monitor 90 degrees

Although it isn't a perfect solution, you can always adjust the vertical (horizontal) stretch within the mame settings to compensate a little bit. I like this better than the stretch to fit option.

Try running them at 640x480 with hardware stretch on. You simply aren't going to be able to run those games with pixel accuracy on a CGA monitor with the wrong orientation.
