Title: Wiring diagram for a thrustmaster NASCAR pro digital wheel
Post by: Vigo on June 11, 2012, 02:24:46 pm
Does anyone know where I can find a wiring diagram for the above mentioned racing wheel? If anyone has one and can take a snap of it opened up, that would be much appreciated as well.

I kinda effed up the racing wheel out of sheer laziness. I am trying to churn out a quick mini racing cab as a birthday/father's day/retirement gift for my father. Last time I was at his place, I dusted off his old racing wheel to use it in the cab. I was checking out the option of decasing the thing, so i opened it to get a feel for things. After which, I just tossed the sucker in a garbage bag and took it back home with me, not bothering to close it back up again. It must have shifted pretty badly in transit, because when I opened up the bag yesterday to work on the wheel, half the wires were ripped off at their solder points.

I guess laziness is not always the answer. :banghead:

So anyway, any help would be appreciated!

I have one of these I plan to use in a MAME setup when I get to it. What exactly do you need the wiring of?

Most of the wires seem have been soldered to a little thumb board to connect them to another set of wires. That is where they snapped, and it looks like the joining wires are not coded the same color. I just am hoping to know what color wire on it. Since I cannot even see the wire's destination, I think it is gonna be a pretty painful process to match the wires up.

Ok...its the little green board yer talkin' about right?

With the thing apart, upside down and wheel facing away from you:

Top side L-R: Or, yel, grn, blu, wht (these wires come from JP6) blk, brn (from JP4)

Bottom side L-R: Or, yel, grn, blu, brn, wht, blk, vio/wht (wires come from wheel mech, the wht wire comes from the shift stick and ties to the same solder pad as the violet wire does)

That should take care of it.

Now....since I've helped you out, you can do something for me if you can.

I got the wheel without the pedal assy so I have to adapt another to it. Can you detail the wiring from the pedal pots to the JP1 connector? You should be able to do this with a meter set to continuity beep.

Awesome!! You rock! I will get to work on this tonight! I think i can figure out the wiring for the pedals to the Jp1 board for you. Thanks!

Finally got the wheel working....mostly. For some reason, button 3 on the steering wheel will only register as pressed when button 4 is held down. There must be something funky with the grounds, but I am not gonna spend any more time on this one. I'm calling it good. I will just make button 3 and 4 at the same time as a quit hotkey.

boardjunkie, here is where I traced the pedals to. Keep in mind that my wheel was just resoldered, so there is a chance something is effed up by me, but I think this should work fine for yours. Also, I think it is a Windows 7 generic driver issue, but I had to reverse the polarity on the gas pedal pot. I tried a couple games and they got confused with pedal polarity, so I just reversed it.

gas pot pole 1 = Red wire on JP3
gas pot pole 2 = Purple wire on JP2
(Gas pot was originally soldered to lead 3 and 2 respectively.

brake pot 2 = Yellow wire on JP3
brake pot 3 = White wire on JP1
