Title: WWF Wrestlemania Restoration
Post by: KombatMame on June 01, 2012, 08:11:07 am
Hi guys,

I scored an (in europe quite rare) 1995 WWF Wrestlemania dedicated machine, rescued out of an operators basement.  :applaud:

Everything original, fully functional, at first sight good condition, although there is some light moisture damage on the cabinet base.
Nothing bad, no structural damage, veeery light swelling at the edges, can be sanded and sealed.
Sideart is unfaded and has some dings and scratches, can be touched up. Will also do a full sideart scan just to be sure  ;)

First steps were opening, taking out electronics and cleaning of the cab, it smelled like a swamp ::)
I also removed the wooden cash box by carefully removing the pieces holding it in place. This was necessary to get it clean underneath, will be factory correct after the whole rescue process.

At the time I'm sanding the inside and bottom base, good progress so far (pictures soon)
Next steps are priming/painting the inside side panels (base will be left bare wood), new rear kickplate

Light drawback was the destroyed CPO, as there are no repro ones (at this time). I'm started an artwork-thread here:

stay tuned

Fantastic! Are you going to share the sideart scans? Are you going to scan the CP art too?

yes I'll share the scans, i'm using a special flat-surface-scanner (HP Scanjet 4600, discontinued), as before on my pinball machine...

you can scan large artworks in portions with it, the scanner lays flat with its glass surface providing in-focus sharp images. it's meant to scan paintings/posters etc, but is also perfect for large flat surfaces like on our arcades/pinballs :)

i recently acquired a NOS decal (kit) set, containing marquee, front of CP, CP background and instruction sticker, I'll scan these also.

The CPO was largely destroyed during deassembly, see my link in the first thread..

stay tuned guys
