Just curious, anyone think this could run MAME?

For that price it bloody well better

Run it, sure. Depends on what you plan to do tho. If you just wanna run a comp monitor or LCD tv/monitor, it will do that outta the box. If you want to use an arcade monitor as a display, who knows.
-
It can run MAME, but not all the games would run at full speed.
Wouldn't even come close to running 3D games.
It would be ok for classics & 2D fighters.

Is there a point to wanting to use the chromebox for a mame machine? If your goal is small and quiet, I would much rather have an Acer Revo or something similar :

This makes much more since.. and yes goal is small and quiet :)

I wonder if someone ported MAME to run on this

You can also put together a computer with a mini itx motherboard. For a couple hundred, you can get a 2Ghz system running off of a thumb drive. Small, silent and fast.

My thoughts exactly. For cheaper you could build a rather decent pc.

I'd actually find it more likely for MAME to run the C64, not the other way around. :)
