Title: Reformat HDD for Elite 360?
Post by: WhereEaglesDare on May 26, 2012, 11:13:21 pm
A friend of mine says that he can't get a HDD to work on a 360 after deleting some things from it.  Is there a way to make the HDD go back to a Factory default?  He can connect it to his laptop and it is a working drive and not crashed, but the Xbox wont recognize it.

Any help will be great!  Thank you.

has he tried formatting it from the xbox360 settings? I remember you had to get the console serial number before doing it because it asks for it.

Format using System -> Memory -> Hard Drive -> Format (or press Y button), enter the serial number of the machine to allow it to format (you find it on the back of the machine or in System -> System information).  I'm not sure if that requires the drive to be detected or not (probably does).  Otherwise you could try using xplorer (http://beta.ivc.no/wiki/index.php/Xbox_360_Hard_Drive_Upgrade) to install the firmware for the drive again to help it be detected to format.
