Not a bad idea if the price is low.
Use of MAME in the product name and website is gonna kill it.

Although I have this weird feeling someone just took my past advice one step further. :lol

Yeah, using furniture will just look like furniture with a computer on it. That said, you can probably use just a desk like this:

I wonder what kind of cable management comes with it?

The skeleton of a late [Z] candy. Very industrial looking. Worth it for the CP, though.

that marquee...thingy is useless and unnecessary. would look better without it.

Hi everyone.
Just wanted to say hi and thanks for your comments.
This was my first mame project. I came up with the idea as my partner wouldnt let me have a full arcade cabinet in the house as it was too big and I have always wanted my own arcade cab.
So I came up with the MAMEframe mainly for me but then thought I would put it on ebay and see if I get any interest. If I did I would look into making more of them.
I have had a look at your comments and will take them all on board.
I am going to rename it the GAMEframe or something like that.
The cable management is in the tubing of the frame. There a holes behind the monitor support section as well as next to the controller section and at the base of the front left support. So you can run all cables through the frame itself.
The marquee at the front lights up ( well thats if you put your own light source in ) and I put it on there to hide anything on the top shelf as I have added holes on the top shelf so you can fix speakers on the top shelf face down.
I am looking for any more feed back as I still feel there is a market out there for it.
I was going to sell it as a barebones frame ( all complete, not flat pack ) as many people that would be interested already have the parts.
Please let me know your thoughts
All the best
Danny

I guess the fact that 32 people bid on the original auction to the tune of £155.00 speaks to the fact that there is at least some some interest in something like this.

I thought this was going to be about:

or
(http://retroblast.arcadecontrols.com/photos/cabs/MF2%20cabinet/marquee_final.jpg)
And, as the owner of those two machines found out, MAMEFrame was TM'd by our old friend Dave Foley while at Quantum3D. ::)

MAMEframe is just so weird, that it takes a few for me to even venture near the techno-geek connotation there might be of it.
As for the metal deal....um, girl or gay guy, I'm sure they would go for a furniture-like box than that industrial-looking thing.

It's a good concept... make a mame cab smaller (cause those suckers are huge in a small room) but it's a bit too minimalist.
Note the standard viewlix cab... which is the arcade version of a hdtv cab
(http://www.am-j.co.jp/newmachine/200611/image/015-ph.jpg)
Everything is reinforced and enclosed. Also note that the angle on the back of the cab is almost identical, yet they used that space to build a box to house the pcb... keeping things neat and tidy. Also note the marquee doesn't stick out (that casts a shadow), and the cp is rounded, so you won't kill a person. ;) Finally, and most importantly, note that it's a sit-down model. Short of having heavy weights in the bottom or bolting it to the wall, a stand up cab that thin is just going to tip over eventually.
Actually, for a stand up that's a much better idea. Just make a VESA mount that can hold a control panel below a flat screen and possibly a marquee above.
