I moved my upright cab from the 3rd floor of my house to the 1st floor and thus had to mildly disassemble it. In the process I decided to make a few upgrades like finally installing built-in speakers, mounting a dedicated 4-way, coin door, etc.
I had originally built the cab to hold a 21" TV that we've had for 15 years. At the time we were still using that TV, so I started with a 17" monitor and later a 19" monitor.
I finally dragged the 21" TV and dropped in the cab, it fits awesome. Problem is the performance is terrible. The TV only has an RF input, so I've got an S-video out from my graphics card connected to an RF converter and then going to the TV.
Normal windows text is unreadable. I've tried a few different S-vid cables, but the blurry-ness and bleed over is too much. But now I've done it....I an finding it hard to go back to the 19" CRT monitor I had been using. Soooo....I'm in the market for a used 21" CRT. Any good sources that someone can recommend? Looking for one ~$100 shipped.

Where are you located?

If your in North America you should easily be able to find something on Craigs List or Kijiji.

Check Goodwill and other thrift shops. They should have a ton of CRT TVs and or monitors (people dump them there to get away with not paying recycling/waste disposal fees).

I'm on the east coast in Georgia...right on the coast.
I've tried Craigslist and local eBay....a few TVs and several 21" monitors for $200+.
I've found a couple of places that sell them for $50 + $25-$30 shipping, but they are both out of stock.
There is a Goodwill store close to me....I could wander in there this week and look around, but I'd be surprised to find a 21" CRT PC monitor in there. Smaller ones perhaps, but not a 21".
I have a co-worker that has one he may be willing to part with for free. He's unsure of the size though...he thinks it's 21" but I bet it is 19". Will keep my fingers crossed.
My company used to have hundreds of the IBM 21" CRT displays for CAD work. They had to have gone *somewhere*. I was asking around to see if there was a local company that sold them off or something. Heck, even the local schools here won't even take CRT monitors as donations anymore!

There's a company in Marietta that recycles computer gear by the pallet-load. Probably something like that in Savannah (that where you are?) too.
You also could well find a more recent TV than the one you've already tried out... certainly you should be able to land one with direct RCA (and probably S-video) inputs instead of having to go through a converter. That'd be a huge improvement right off the bat.

Damn- I got a 19 inch and 21 inch CRT here in Arizona last year for $5 each.

I looked a few local places and ended up ordering a 20" LCD 4:3 refrb for $75 shipped.
I modded my cab and took a full 12" off the depth since I don't need it for the crt anymore. Glad I did...its so much less of a monolith now.
