I moved a control panel to a different computer and I'm now having key repeat problems. eg - I push the fire button in missile command and two missles launch.
The strange thing is that when I go into keyboard settings in XP and hit a button on the keyboard it functions properly, but when I hit a control panel button (mapped to the same key) it comes up as two key presses.
Messing with the bios key repeat and usb keyboard options hasn't helped.
Anybody have any ideas? Could it be a USB driver problem?

If you press a button in a windows prog like notepad do you still get two keypresses?
If not its a Mame Issue and IIRC there are some setting you can alter to fix sticky keys. (If im wrong HC will chew me up and give you the correct info ;) )

same problem in windows programs (ie, notepad). It's almost like it is detecting both the key depress and release. Very strange...
Trying different ideas to isolate it tonight ... putting the IPAC on PS/2, checking the wiring, so far no luck.

How are your buttons wired? If you've connected both the NC and NO on the microswitch you may be having these results. Or maybe you just have a bad microswitch.

I think I had that problem when I wired to NC instead of NO. I know you said it worked on another PC, just thought I'd throw that in.

vitaflo I love you.
I checked all the wiring for shorts -- nothing wrong there. I had a spare ipac laying around, so I tried rewiring the whole thing -- no luck.
Then I tried a fresh microswitch -- that fixed it! Yay!
I find this pretty annoying since the switches were less than one year old, had only seen moderate use, and so many of them went bad at the same time. Very weird. Oh well, live and learn.
Thanks again!
