Title: Jukebox software
Post by: toolsy on May 07, 2012, 09:07:41 pm
Hi guys, I'm just wondering if anyone has used Zenpoint as their jukebox software, I am looking for something with great functionality, but a front end that is very simple to use, Zenpoint looks like the front runner at the moment, but I would love some feedback from anyone here that has used it, or has other suggestions.
Cheers
Jase

I'm using Jukecade. Simple, easy to use. Skinnable to look like a jukebox or use arcade skins. Works with Media Player. Works with joysticks and buttons so you don't need a mouse or keyboard. Great app. There's a thread on it by the creator over in the Jukebox section.

I have a touchscreen bartop that also serves as a juke.  Been using zenpoint for two years now and I think it is brilliant.

My main gripe with most jukebox software is that it doesn't look much like a real jukebox.
Most of it looks like MP3 management software or a pc media player.

I've been using thepcjukebox for years, but there has to be something newer and better out there by now.
(it was last updated 2006)

Has anyone come accross a touch-tunes clone?

Heh, in terms of the proper look, there were only two back in the day.  Jukebox software was one of the first things I wrote.

I totally lost interest though because cabinets don't have touch screens and at the time at least, touchscreen devices were quite expensive.  I think most of the ones you see now look like a media player because that is exactly how people are using them. The only other way, without an expensive touch screen, is to use call numbers and buttons, and that becomes a big pain when you have thousands of songs.  ;)

Personally I think tablets are the solution to this one.  One of these days I'll take one of those old wall-selector units you see in diners and make it into a tablet dock.  Then I'll write some rudimentary juke software for it.

After some more digging, E-touch looks promising although I remember trying it's predecessor freebox a while back and not liking it.

Maybe I'll just spend rainy days redrawing buttons to make a touchtunes skin for thepcjukebox.  :(
I really like how you can easily choose which buttons and controls you want on the screen.
