Title: DEREZZED - TRON/DAFT PUNK MACHINE *PROJECT COMPLETED*
Post by: JayB on May 06, 2012, 10:59:12 am
Seems like loads of Tron themes cabs lately and now another  :lol

Been a Tron fan since the original release and wanted a Space Paranoids cabinet which has become second fiddle to this one. Back story on this, finished another wood related project one afternoon and had some wood left over and the next thing I know I'm sketching up a freehand idea on the MDF. It's a smaller sized single player cab, 120cm high x 62 wide. Absolutely no intention of building one at all when I woke up that morning but, in about four hours of cutting and drilling, there it stood fully built.

As of right now, it is basically finished waiting for me to apply the artwork I've had printed in the marquee and control panel. I chose to paint the cab completely white which gives it a fresh look but a classic feel.  I've used Mala as the frontend. Theme is based on the machine from Daft Punk's Derezzed video for Tron Legacy as you'll see with the attached images. By no means am I photoshop wiz so I really struggle my way through best I can.

Will post up a working video when it is done, may be a week before I can spend the time to finish it off

HOT! Nice frontend...gotta have "End of Line" by Daft Punk playing on a loop...

...or Derezzed, I suppose.

Thanks

I have some audio for background music sorted, it has a little bit of Derezzed included amongst the other game sounds :)  When you click to play a game it shows an Encom screen like the one from the MCP saying "I'm going to have to put you on the game grid"

Some shots of the finished machine and also a short video showing the main menu screen and arcade ambience sound. Those with a keen ear might spot some relevant things in there  ;)  Sorry the pics aren't great as they're off the iPhone.

Is it just me, or is that balltop not threaded all the way on?

Thanks guys, I've really enjoyed making this so it's nice to get kind feedback on it    I'm really pleased with the dimensions of it, makes my main machine (MKII) look a bit over bearing.

As I was making it, my mind was coming up with all sorts of ideas. Had I got the wall space I thought of making three interlinked machines (only 4 sides needed) each with its own theme.

I'll take some better shots at some point and a more detailed video
