Title: Power related question (neotec 2515c)
Post by: bug_nuts on May 05, 2012, 06:45:42 pm
Anyone familiar with a Neotec 2515c monitor or monitor repair in general? its a 25" monster that is driving me nuts!

I am trying to figure out if my issue is power or video (both are cables i had to make) But what i am wondering is if there is power to the unit, when i turn it on should I see any change in the monitor if it does not have video connect? Will it brighten up? will it change at all?
Sometimes when it turns on it does have a audible *bung* type sound, but the there does seem to a mild hum/tick from the flyback !

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you

a tick sound coming from a neotec usually means that something is shorted in the secondary. Most often the Horiz output, but can also be the flyback or one of the width caps.

Curious though that you say the tick is coming from the flyback?

your "bung" is the degauss circuit.

try turning up the "screen" controll on the flyback and see if you get the screen to turn gray. you should be able to see it just turning it up a little. (like less than an 8th of a turn) if you can turn it up all the way and it's still black you have something else going on. (no B+)

also if you pull the power and can see the tube flash for a second you have high voltage. you have something wrong with another circuit.

if you disconnect the degauss coil plug (so it doesn't make noise) and power up just the monitor can you hear anything? (click chirp squeak tick)

if no sounds at all your power supply isn't powering up at all. maybe a bad mosfet or controller chip.
