Title: HANTAREX CT 28 EQ MONITOR Only Outputting Composite Picture??
Post by: lettuce on May 05, 2012, 04:54:48 pm
I just today got a HANTAREX CT 28 EQ MONITOR, this is the connections it has on the rear....

I have tried plugging my snes into the scart socket on the rear, and its giving me a really poor grainy picture i pretty sure its composite and it definitely isnt RGB Scart quality that i get from my Sony Trinitron screen. Any ideas why im getting what appears to be a composite signal, surely a Arcade monitor doesnt give composite only RGB.

Heres the spec page from the manual....

(http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/7118/manual1.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/515/manual1.jpg/) (http://img337.imageshack.us/img337/1198/manual2v.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/337/manual2v.jpg/)

it states RGB for the scart connection. It says 'Input of high-speed switching from composite video to RGB 5 - 12 V.', any ideas what the hell that means??

One other thing my SNES scart cable has a switch on it, in one position its gives a crappy composite picture and in the other position a nice crisp scart RGB picture, when i have it in the RGB position all i get on the monitor is a rolling screen!, not sure what to make of this?

Make sure you're applying 5-12V to the fast blank input.  Without that, the set will use the composite input (the RGB input on SCART was originally intended for an OSD overlay, hence the fast blank input and defaulting to composite).

Hi thanks for the reply. Yeah this is what i am going to try (as a last resort). What would be the best way to supply voltage to pin 16, i have check pin 16 on my Super Nintendo Scart lead that im try to connect up to this monitor and according to my Multimeter it is getting 5volts on pin 16 so should in theory change over but maybe it need a bit more juice? Any suggestion on the best way to supply say 9volts to pin 16 on the monitor, as id be using a fair few retro consoles on the monitor so would be difficult to mod each scart plug for this 9volts. Is there not a jumper on the chassis PCB that can overide this mode so RGB is active all the time?, seems a very odd feature, any suggestion would be most appreciated

I CANNY BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!

Ive only just gone and sorted it!!!!!

I managed to get the sync sorted but the display still looked like a Nintendo Virtual Boy!!!.....

And after another half an hour of trial and error, i got this!!!.....

When me thought the pinout diagram was all to cock....well that was an understatment. This is what the pinout is for the wires i know at the moment...

NEW REVISION

OLD
(http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/9896/pinouts.jpg)

None of the pins on the diagram in the manual were correct at all...not even close. Now how can i find out what the Black, Purple, Blue and Red wires are?, and why is it sync'd for just using H sync on the grey wire. Do you think 1 of the other 4 unknown wires are the V sync?

The picture has an ever so slight 'judder' to it any ideas how to make it rock solid stable?....im fairly pleased with my self  i was about to lob the monitor in the skip!!!

I will take the MM to the 9din later on and get the correct pins to the correct wires

Also i need to figure out what i need to do to my SNES scart in order to get it to sync on the Scart connection, my head hurts too much atm to think about it lol
