Title: MAME button config question

I would like to configure MAME such that whenever the original game didn't have P2 controls the P1 Controls are mirrored on my P2 controls. 
I want this because on my narrow control panel there are some 1 player games where, for comfort, I'd like to use the P1 Joystick with the P2 buttons. I have set this up manually in MAME for some of my favorites, but it would sure be nice to have it done automatically.

I am running a newer release of MAME with a Minipac.   Any advice would be appreciated.

As far as I'm aware you will have to set it up manually for each game you want.  Mame should save the settings so you only have to set it up once for each game.

Try CFG Magician to see if can do it.  I haven't tried your scenario so I'm not sure.  It's worth taking a look at though.
