Title: Is this everything I need to start making a control panel?
Post by: ArcadeSeeker962 on April 27, 2012, 11:03:55 pm
I figuring out on paper everything I need for my control panel for the MAME cabinet that me and my father are building. I'm still a little bit new to this all, so correct me if I make any mistakes. I decided to take the no-soldering route, since that's what other members recommended. The control panel I chose is a 2-Player control panel.

Anyhow, I'm choosing GroovyGame Gear as my choice for buying the parts I need. Here's what I came up with:

2 Omni 4-way/8-way joysticks
12 Arcade Prime Pushbuttons
1 Player 1 Pushbutton
1 Player 2 Push button
1 Super High Trackball Install Kit
1 Trackball Mounting Kit
1 5v USB Power Cord(do I need more than one?)
Groovy TB 3'' Trackball
KeyWiz Max 2.0

I also remember reading from one of the other threads I posted that female crimp connectors are required, how many will I need of those? Also, what else do I need to make the control panel? If I wasn't suppost to post this, I apologize.

Do you have trackball already?  You have mounting kits on your list but no trackball.  You need a keyboard encoder as well.  Write down one Keywiz as well.  Anything else depends on your trackball.  Is it a usb trackball or do you need an optiwiz for it?

I do not own the trackball yet, but the trackball is going to be powered via USB through the control panel. Will this work  alright as a keyboard encoder recommendation, or is there a better keyboard encoder for MAME cabinet control panels out there?
