Hey all, my name is Jim. Apologize for just posting now, I've been lurking and learning from you guys for a couple weeks, now. Trying to figure out my first project. Well, I collect NES video games, so I decided, instead of a MAME cabinet it will be an NES cabinet, I've posted all the details on my website. If any of you get a chance to check it out, I'd appreciate any feedback or thoughts you might have!
Thanks.

Neat idea. I'm running Mamewah with MAME, N64, SNES, NES (8-bit) and some Atari emulators.
Any reason why you want to dedicate and entire cab to just one console?

I like the idea of a dedicated Nintendo cabinet. People have done them before around here. I would emulate the Nintendo though and have every game on there with a frontend rather than using the Nintendo itself. You are going to end up blowing on the cartridges to make them work in front of your buddies. :laugh2:

I have a very similar project in the queue (way down the line, though)- NES, Powerpak, hacked Advantages, etc. Will be following the project. Considering most people have the "guts" lying around (old TV, NES, etc), I am surprised I haven't seen more like this.

It's more about the room I'm allow to take up in the house. 3 kids, wife...I get exactly *ONE* workbench in the garage. :lol

EDIT: After further looking at the website:
Was confused for a moment there, thought you had made the original Nintendo Power NES cab. I've cleared it up for myself now...
Anyway, welcome to the forums and I look forward to your progress!

Thanks all! I'm making it dedicated to NES for a couple reasons. First, I have a ton of Nintendo stuff and I will build in cubbies for my 100-ish games and peripherals. Second, duck hunt wouldn't work on a flat screen (I know, there's solutions, but not the one I want). I just ran a test of the wiring, with all the component just laid out, since I haven't started woodwork yet. Beyond all that, I want it to be authentic even beyond what a person would notice playing it. The lack of an extra computer laying around didn't hurt either. I do have one question someone here probably knows the answer to...
For price reasons, I'm using an analog tv for the monitor. Problem is, I want to power everything off of a surge protector and every time I turn the surge off and back on I have to turn the tv back on manually or by remote. Any way to make it come on automatically when it has power?
Thanks again!
P.S.
Greg, I can't even argue that point because you're right...but I have a new 72 pin connector and am cleaning all my games this weekend. Hopefully it will be a minimum.
Thefearsomefearful - I am going to do the same eventually. I have already modded my nes for a remote reset button for switching games. Just putting the money towards the cab now, powerpak later.
