I am thinking about making a Mini MAME from all the leftover components I have and a 15" monitor. Are there any samples out there that you all know of?
This is for a Christmas present, so I want to keep the cost low.
Thanks,
Sshado

By the way SirPoonga, I plan on basing it on the MN Wild and would love to use the pic in your sig:

you can get that from the Wild's web site
http://www.wild.com/index.cfm?section=fans&cont_id=129970
that should get you there.
I went looking for it after I saw SP's sig pic. :)
awesome.

Thanks :) That will help a lot :)
I also found a similar cab like what I was thinking of:
Bartop Arcade (http://members.rogers.com/sschwartz2000/forsale.html)

man...I like the looks of that cab a lot.
I've wanted to make a bartop for a while now but haven't seen anything with plans that I liked that much.
I should be able to whip that up in a few hours on a Saturday, shouldn't I?
:)
Maybe I should do a Blues themed one since I'm in St. Louis. Our stupid little advertising thing is "do you bleed blue?" so people go to games with hockey pucks stuck in their heads and blue blood dripping down, and carrying those IV bags filled with "blue blood" hooked up
they get creative with it, but...I don't really care for it too much.
Maybe I'll just make it say DETROIT SUCKS. lol

You could simplify the bar top design by getting rid of the marquee. Just a thought.
I didn't put a marquee on my smallest sitdown cab.

Another idea there... simply outstanding !
The Lunacade's "AtomicJamie"

Awesome, but totally expensive. I plan on building this thing for under $150.
Here is my first concept drawn in MS Paint :p
Will have the born to be wild pic as the marquee.

Here is a tough one that I want to do. I want to make a player 1 button with a hockey player on it.
Any ideas?

Here's another "bar-top" mame cab...
This is the second auction I've seen for this one & they actually sold the first one for that same price!
TABLE TOP Arcade/PC system MAME and more!!! (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3244430178&category=13716&rd=1)
I never realized just how big these things are until I saw the pic of the guy (last pic in the row neaer the bottom of the ad)
I guess if you think of it being a 15" monitor with a big enclosure, it puts the size into perspective...
I want to do one with a 10" monitor!!! Now that would start to actually save space.
If LCDs didn't suck so bad for game-play, it would be cool to do something with a 8" LCD or something like that. eh...
I really want to build a mini, but the wife says I've gotta finish up the 4 cabs sitting in the garage before I can start any new projects... (She didn't know what she was getting into when she said "sure, whatever"... ;) )

Kinda funny with the Centepede Graphics and no trackball. :)
I know you can play with a joystick..but...what's the point? ;)

I wasn't suggesting you actually buy that overpriced monstrocity!!!
I was just giving you another example to help you along with the design of yours.
I'll probably end up building something like this one (in the auction).
But I'd like to see if I can get my hands on a monitor smaller than 14"...
eh...
We'll see.
Good luck!
& If you can get a decent vector graphic of what you want, ask nannuu where he got his vinyl player stickers (http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=11971) made... maybe you could do something similar...
Good luck!

Thanks for all the suggestions :) I have started the plans and gotten things in motion. I have to split my time between working on this and building my shed, but I will be finished by mid December :)
I will show you the final results then all.
Thanks again,

I told my GF that I'm gonna build a mini this weekend. We'll see how that goes.
